Summary: The petrochemical industry has had waves of investments at different times, mainly based on a strong domestic market growth and the availability of raw materials in sufficient volume at competitive prices. The last major leap occurred in the period 2000/2006 where production grew between 3.7 to 7.1 million tonnes. Petrochemical demand continues to grow inputs in percentages similar to what GDP grows in Argentina. The potential development of unconventional hydrocarbon resources, could open a window of opportunity for the industry to have a new quantum leap in investments The presentation deals with the problems of the sector and its opportunities towards 2025. | |
