Alcanzar el desarrollo pleno de nuestro continente, reducir la brecha en los  niveles de desarrollo, atender los crecientes requerimientos sociales para alcanzar mejores niveles y condiciones de vida, disponer de energía y agua potable suficiente para atender a la incorporación de poblaciones hoy marginadas y otros aspectos centrales como la educación y la salud y el proceso de industrialización, le plantean a nuestros países enormes y nuevos desafíos que requieren de  imaginación y una adecuada asignación de prioridades para enfrentarlos 
 
Es preciso lograr un fuerte desarrollo industrial en un marco  de sustentabilidad. Este difícil equilibrio  solo se logrará con investigación, tecnologías innovadoras y nuevos  procesos de producción e  industrialización, pero cuidando responsablemente nuestro planeta para que tanto nosotros como las futuras generaciones podamos mejorar nuestra calidad de vida y gozar de un ambiente sano.-

La Ingeniería Química ha tenido un rol fundamental en el desarrollo de los países que lograron este objetivo y, sin duda lo tendrá, ayudando a resolver los nuevos desafíos que se plantean en los demás países de América que aspiran a alcanzarlo.
 
Este congreso dará un aporte sobre las tecnologías del futuro que oriente el trabajo de los investigadores,  tecnólogos y de quienes tienen la responsabilidad de dirigir empresas y gobiernos.

Achieving full development in our continent, reducing the gap in the development levels, working on the growing social requirements to reach better life levels and conditions, having enough energy and drinkable water to be able to include currently marginal populations, and other main aspects such as education and health and the industrialization process, make our countries face new and huge challenges that require imagination and an adequate allotment of priorities to tackle them.
 
It is necessary to achieve strong industrial development in a framework of sustainability. This difficult balance will only be reached with research, innovative technologies and new production and industrialization processes, but at the same time looking after our planet with responsibility so that not only us, but also future generations, can improve our life quality and enjoy a healthy environment.
 
Chemical Engineering has had a key role in the development of the countries that have reached this goal, and it will undoubtedly have it in aiding the resolution of the new challenges that arise in the rest of the American countries that aim at reaching such development.

This congress will provide a contribution on the technologies of the future; this contribution will guide the work of researchers, technologists and those who are responsible for running companies and governments.
